Petsafe Easy Walk Harness: Cheap Knockoffs are now Appearing
I’m in the dog care profession and we always recommend Easy Walk Harnesses for our clients who have dogs that are big pullers.
Recently I bought one myself for a client from Amazon. As soon as I took it out of the box, I could tell something was wrong.
It felt about half the weight it should be.
The buckles were really cheap feeling when I clipped and unclipped them.
But the thing that really clued me in was that it buckled on the wrong side. I’ve put dozens of these things on my dog clients, and after you put it over their heads, the belly strap always buckles behind the dog’s right front leg. This one buckled behind the left.
So I went out and bought one from the store and compared them side by side.
I then noticed a few other things: the counterfeit one had no tag; the store one had a small PetSafe label and an M label for medium.
The knockoff packaging was weird: the front of the paper label inside the plastic faced the bottom of the plastic container; the store-bought one had the front of the label facing the side that opens.
I’ll try to add pictures/videos on this post soon. But in the meantime, be aware that there are now cheap versions out there masquerading as the real thing.
Now it’s possible that this wasn’t a counterfeit and that Petsafe is now making them cheaper, but the store inventory hasn’t caught up to this yet. But why would they make it buckle on the other side?
